Item Details

A handwoven signed Bessarabian wool kilim. This flatweave area rug is attributed to Romanian weavers, and rendered in a palette of cranberry, plum, black, camel, cornsilk, sage, rose, and ivory. The cranberry colored field is over populated by a large flower arrangement grounded in plum with a wreath of floral and folaite motifs, as well as flowers to each corner. The field also shows a signature to one end and reads ‘M.h.M.H.’. Framing the field is a coordinating border of floral and folaite motifs grounded in black with comb and sawtooth edges. Finishing the rug are overcast selvedges and a braided wool warp fringe to the ends.
