1911 Henry Matthews Sterling Jar with "Tribes of Israel Pen" and Beggars Purse

An assortment of German silver and sterling silver accessories. Featured is a diamond cut glass vanity jar with a scroll-rimmed sterling silver lid by Henry Matthews of Birmingham, England. The piece is hallmarked with an ‘HM’ maker’s mark, a Birmingham city mark, a lion standard mark, and an ‘m’ for 1911. This is accompanied by a sterling silver ‘Tribes of Israel’ ballpoint pen featuring intricately raised designs, marked ‘Sterling’ around the collar. Also included is a German Silver chainmail beggars purse with an accordion style gate top frame, chain handle and hinged lid marked ‘Pat. Apl’d For German Silver 4’. The approximate weight of the sterling silver lid is 0.120 ozt.
