Peruvian Painted Ceramic Souvenir Pukará Bull

A Peruvian handcrafted painted ceramic Pukará bull. This souvenir piece based on traditional Peruvian Pukará bulls features: round and protruding eyes, a protruding tongue, styled ornaments on the front, a small handle on the base of the neck, three transverse ridges arranged side to side towards the base of the head, a packsaddle on the back and a round hole in the back through which wine or water would be poured. A gilt and multicolor floral design, unlike the traditional geometric and spiral motifs, has been painted on the white glazed body. A label which reads ‘Toro Mata Pucara Bull XL’ is affixed to the underside.
Condition
- chip to one front hoof. Flaking of gilt finish on nose, hooves, and tail.
