A rare antique Massachusetts Queen Anne high chest, circa 1730-1740. The two-part, maple and pine case features a cove-molded cornice with a hidden map drawer above a stack of four dovetailed and graduated long drawers. Directly below is a molded waist over two additional dovetailed and graduated long drawers, the bottom of which is embellished with a finely-carved fan. The high chest rises on cabriole legs with sharp arising knees centered by a triple-arched, front skirt and ending in pad-on-disc feet.

Condition

-to fair; upper and lower cases are possibly an old marriage; scattered scratches and nicks, with a slightly higher concentration to right side of upper section; a few small chips to corners of drawer lips; top drawer of lower section with an old lip repair near upper right corner; period brasses, but probably replacements; front skirt missing drop finials; missing a strip of waist molding on left side, with a couple of chips/losses to nearby strip; retains one interior lock mechanism; no key; other surface wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use.
