Lee Milmon Oil Paintings of Faces and Feet

Item Details

Oil

A pair of oil paintings on canvas by Colorado artist Lee Milmon (1940-2005). The first of these paintings depicts a collection of six faces that look as if they were made by applying different colors of paint to the subjects’ faces and hair and having them press against the canvas, upon which the ground is split with an off-white upper half and beige lower half. This one has the initials ‘B.J.E’ in paint to one of the figure’s shoulders in the lower left. The second piece, ground colored in a similar manner, features a single pair of calves and feet on the left side of the composition, also appearing to have been ‘stamped’ onto the canvas from paint applied to a body. This one is signed ‘Milton’ to the left ankle. Both pieces are presented in thin wood frames with wire to the verso for hanging.
