This abstract piece includes a lively combination of line work in repeated patterns throughout the composition overlayed with transparent fields of color, drips, and splatters in blue, purple, green, and pink. The painting is presented in a white mat board. The verso of this piece includes a stamp from the artist’s estate.

Mathews, known for her colorful and expressive paintings and drawings, describes her work as follows, . . .having painted for over 25 years, it is difficult to describe my art but whimsical, abstract, and fantasy come to mind. . . After years of suffering from mental illness, Carol’s art became a crucial conduit for her internal turmoil. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will go to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
