A signed lithograph on paper titled Sun Over Montparnasse by well-listed artist Aaron Bohrod (American, 1907-1992). This grey-scale print depicts a street scene with a horse drawn cart traveling down a narrow road bordered by tall, rustic buildings. It is signed by hand to the lower right corner. The print is matted in white and presented behind glass in a black metal frame with a hanging wire to the verso.

Known for landscapes, surrealism, and trompe l’oeil painting, Bohrod studied at the Art Institute of Chicago in the 1925 then at the Art Students League in New York City in 1930-32. Influenced strongly by John Sloan and the West Side neighborhood of Chicago he grew up during the depression, Bohrod’s contain elements of social realism and American regionalism.

Condition

- mat appears to be slightly discolored; debris present under frame glass; residue to the verso; small crack to the lower left of frame glass; minor surface wear to frame.
