Item Details
An antique oil painting on board of figures in a mountainous European landscape. This early 19th century work depicts two small figures in the lower central part of the composition, following a flock of sheep. In the distance the white sails of boats are visible floating across a high country lake. The landscape is framed by a ridge of atmospheric blue mountains. The unsigned work is presented in a gold tone wood and gesso frame with ornate finial molding. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.
Condition
- to fair; accretions to painting particularly at lower left; cracks and chipping throughout frame; chip to left of frame repaired; discoloration and wear to frame.
