An antique reverse glass hand colored mezzotint image transfer. This late 18th to early 19th century work depicts a man and woman leaning against a shade tree as the man preforms on a narrow recorder. A flock of sheep rest at their feet and in the background, and a red roofed building is visible on a brightly colored hill in the distance. The unsigned work is presented under glass in a black wood frame with an oval window. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.
Condition
- loss of adherence of paint to glass at corners; discoloration to print; chips and abrasions throughout frame; loss of finish to frame along all edges.
