Chinese Hand-Painted "Lady and Peony" Ceramic Ginger Jar with Gilt Design

A Chinese hand-painted ceramic ginger jar. This piece has an ovoid style form and features figural scenes depicting a pair of ornately dressed ladies in floral pattern robes on the front and back, surrounded by pink and red peonies and framed by a scalloped black border. In between each frame is a gilt scrolled foliage design accented with red peonies and green leaves. There is a pointed black-painted finial on the small lid. The underside is stamped with a red Qianlong reign mark; however, this jar was most likely produced in the 20th century.
