Antique "Mule Entering Barn" Coin Bank
Item Details
An antique ‘Mule Entering Barn’ coin bank. This metal bank was designed and patented by Edward Morris of Boston in 1880 and distributed by J.E. Stevens & Co. of Cromwell, Connecticut. By placing a coin between the rear legs of the mule and pressing a level, the mule bucks forward, catapulting the coin through the upstairs window of the barn and into the bank; at the same time, a dog emerges from its kennel at the base of the barn. The barn retains traces of red paint to its exterior.
