Antique Victorian Gothic Revival Style Oak Hall Chair
Item Details
An antique Victorian Gothic Revival style oak hall chair, circa 1890. This ornately carved chair features an arched crest rail with a pierced design of scrolled acanthus leaves flanking an oval shield. Below the crest rail is an upholstered back splay framed by pierced scrolled acanthus leaves and flanked by barley twist stiles with finials. The stiles attach to the upholstered seat and the arms with upholstered rests, animal head handholds, and scrolled supports. The seat rises on barley twist legs connected by a shell and acanthus leaf apron and a turned H stretcher. The upholstery is a pale orange velvet with gimp trim. There are no visible maker’s marks.
