A contemporary raku clay artist, sculptural mask by Pawnee/ Sioux and Oklahoma native artist Austin Real Rider. Rider’s art is said to be inspired by Pawnee stories the artist was told in his youth. This off-white glazed clay mask features a dramatic oblong shape with rivet accents. It includes honeycomb like detailing, yellow eyes, bells, possibly horse hair and feathers. Etched to the reverse ‘Real Rider ’91.’ It includes a rear wire and is ready to hang.

Rider received degrees in clay art from both Oklahoma State School of Technology and the Institute of American Indian Arts. He has received awards from the Heard Museum Art Show, Scottsdale Art Show and other exhibitions.
