Barkcloth Map of 1590 Africa
Item Details
A barkcloth map of pre-Colonial Africa. This map is made of barkcloth, a primarily Ugandan medium in which strips of tree bark are flattened into a rough paper-like substrate. This cinnamon brown-colored sheet has a map of pre-Colonial Africa with place names in Latin, and a header reading ‘Africa, A.D. 1590.’

- folds and creases; several small points of wear and holes in barkcloth.
