Brass Muffin or Alarm Hand Held Bell

Item Details

An antique cast brass muffin or alarm, hand held bell. The bell features two brass domes mounted back to back with iron clanger works inside. The bell is mounted to a nicely turned wood handle which is stamped ‘Patd July 22 1873’ and has a ring to the end for hanging. This style of bell was commonly used as fire alarms and vendor bells in the mid to late 19th century.

Condition

- one pointed center tip of one bell has a small hole.
