A semi-antique power-loomed hunting rug. This wool rug features a Persian hunting design in a palette of midnight blue, sapphire, vermillion, cornsilk, and chartreuse. It begins with a midnight-blue field filled with wild cats, grazing gazelles, and other woodland creatures amid trees, flowers, and herati palmettes and vinework. Framing the field are four borders, including a wide main border grounded in vermillion, populated with chimerical beasts, palmettes, abstracted foliage and florets. Selvedges are serged, the rug finishing at each end with long gray fringe. It is unlabeled.
