A 1969 gouache painting of Middle Eastern figures on newspaper, signed to the lower right by the artist, believed to be Armenian-Iranian watercolor painter Sumbat Der Kiureghian (1913-1999). This piece, signed and dated ‘Sumbat 69’ to its lower right, features a painterly study of figures in headscarves and hats, the attention of most figures turned toward a bearded man with a stern expression on his face, possibly Ayatohlla Khomeini. This colorful work has been painted on an Arabic-language newspaper page and is matted under glass in a wooden frame with a length of twine to its verso for hanging.

- fair; discoloration throughout newspaper; accretion under glass; frame has surface wear to edges, corners, and verso.
