Antique Tiger Oak Concert Roller Organ With Cobs

An early 20th century tiger oak Concert Roller Organ with fifteen cobs. The piece features a tiger oak case with single hinged glass paned door and scrolled brass hand crank to the front. The piece rests on a black wood base finished with four bracket feet. The top of the piece is marked ‘Concert Roller Organ’ in gilt lettering and the sides and front each feature scrolled and arabesque designs in gilt. The box features a lidded top for reaching the interior gearing which includes the original paper ‘Directions’ label to the interior of the lid. Fifteen wooden cobs are included, and some of the cobs retain portions of their original manufacturer’s label. One of the cobs’ labels is marked ’It’s a long, long way to Tipperary’ which according to lore was written by Harry Williams on a 5-shilling bet in December 1912, and gained popularity during the First World War.

- some scratches and wear to the wood case and cobs; gilt lettering and designs are worn; some dust noted; untested.
