A sterling silver flatware set for eight in the Chippendale pattern by Towle, first produced in 1937. This set includes eight hollow handle place knives with stainless steel blades, eight salad forks, eight place forks, eight teaspoons, eight soup spoons, eight flat handle butter spreaders, one flat handle master butter knife, two serving spoons, one cold meat fork, and one sugar spoon. The flared handles terminate to curved tips embellished with delicate scroll details. They are marked ‘Towle Sterling Chippendale’ to the reverse and are presented in a wood tarnish-proof chest. The total approximate weight, excluding the knives with stainless blades, is 52.885 ozt.
