A oil painting on canvas of two men next to hearth by well-listed Scottish artist George Ogilvy Reid (1851-1928). This works depicts a two men wearing late 19th-century clothing conversing in front of a fireplace. The interior is executed in deep warm brown with architectural elements resembling wood panel. This work is signed to the lower right corner. This piece is presented in an ornate gilt and gesso frame with acanthus leaf moulding along the top edge. Two rows with foliate motif moulding are next to the sight edge. Hanging hardware is present to the verso.

- toning on verso of canvas; dirt pockets and backing paper remnants throughout verso of canvas and frame; cracks, chips, and wear to gesso decorations on frame.
