Item Details
An original oil painting on canvas titled Sovereign of the Seas by listed American artist Frederick Hunter (1858-1943). This nautical painting depicts the historic 1852 clipper ship and one time and world record holder for fastest sailing ship as it cuts through choppy waters. The work is signed in the lower right and dated 1924. It is presented in a gilded wood frame with a linen liner. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.
Condition
- light edge wear to frame, canvas has several holes (upper right margin, lower right, lower left margin) and has a 2" tear to the center left of canvas. The linen covered inner frame is discolored.
