An oil painting on canvas of hunting dogs in the manner of listed artist Robert Cleminson (1864 – 1903). This well-rendered painting depicts a pair of brown and black spotted Spaniels surrounded by tall grass, looking at ducks flying in the distance. One of the dogs clutches at a fallen duck with its mouth. To the lower left corner of the composition is a painted signature. The painting is presented in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- holes and paint loss in upper corners; patch to verso of canvas with in painting to recto; red ink mark to right side; visible stretcher marks; surface wear to corners and edges of frame.
