Vintage Meriden Silver Plate Ice Water Pitcher with Two Copper Pitchers
Item Details
A vintage silver plate ice water pitcher by Meriden Silver Plate Co. of Meriden, CT (established 1869, in 1898 became subsidiary of International Silver). This piece features a chased floral and grass design to the body, as well as repoussé floral and leaf bands around the top and base accented with gadroon bands, a scallop accent to the spout, and a handle with bands and a floral design. The lid has a round, ribbed finial with a spherical top. The underside of the base is stamped with the Meriden silver plate mark used until circa 1938, above the pattern number 487. The lot also includes two copper pitchers, one with a chased floral and figural design around the body and applied talon-shaped handle, and the smaller pitcher features a chased pointed quatrefoil shape with floral and animal designs in the center, as well as scrolled foliate bands and a rooster-shaped finial on the curved handle. These pitchers are unmarked.
