Large Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Chinese Old Peking Area Rug
Item Details
A large semi-antique to antique Chinese Old Peking area rug. This gorgeous wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of midnight blue, royal blue, camel, and gold. It begins with a semi-abstracted vase with a swirling bouquet at the center of a midnight blue field. Scattered in the field are ten clusters of crisply rendered flowers. The field is framed by three sets of flowers, leaves, and vines, one running along the field’s inner edges and two in wraparound borders, grounded in camel or midnight blue. Included are images of chrysanthemums, lilies, orchids, peonies, abutilon and other blooms. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with original mesh skirts and applied fringe. It is unlabeled.
