Item Details
Paper
A 1948 original watercolor painting on paper by well-listed American artist Melville Stark (Pennsylvania, 1903 – 1987). The loosely rendered painting depicts a busy boatyard. A man in coveralls is working on a sailboat to the lower left foreground at the water’s edge as several figures meander about the outbuildings to the background, and another works on a boat moored at the bank. The painting is signed and dated in graphite to the lower right. The date, partially obscured by the mat, appears to be 1948. Presented behind a black mat with a copper tone fillet, under glass in a copper tone wood frame with cast embellishments. It is ready to hang with a wire.
Condition
- painting is lightly rippled. Signature and date are partially concealed by matting.
