A mixed media painting on canvas of an abstract composition by Louis Papp (New York; born 1930), dated 1987. The work uses newspaper collage and oil paint to create texture. To the verso, the painting is signed and dated. The work is presented freestanding without a frame.

Louis Papp was a New York based artist known for his abstract, mixed media paintings. He was also a member of the Art Students League, a renowned and respected art school headquartered in Manhattan in the 1970’s and 80’s.

Condition

- some wear to the tape on the edges of the canvas; some wear to the surface of the work; to the verso, some paint marks and evidence of repair.
