A hand-tufted and carved Chinese area rug by Royal Palace. This plush wool, Savonnerie-style rug is scalloped in shape. It begins with a floral medallion grounded in cream and outlined in ruby, the medallion resting on a cream-colored field. The field features a cream-on-cream diamond lattice pattern, each panel of which contains a daisy-like floret in lavender, cream, and zephyr yellow. Framing the field are two borders, including a wide primary border grounded in ruby, featuring meandering flowers and acanthus amid several floral cameos that spill into the field. Edges are serged on all sides under a full fabric backing. A label on the reverse reads, in part, ‘Hand-Made in People’s Republic of China’ and ‘Produced by Yue Hua Factory.’
