A hand-knotted Kerman wool area rug. The rug has been worked in shades of deep indigo, espresso, ochre, sky blue, blush, pale pink, fawn, ruby, and ivory. There is a central lobed diamond pendant medallion. The ruby field is infilled with floral, foliage, and acanthus leaf motifs. The spandrels have scroll work edges and have stylized palmettes and floral details. The inner guard borders have carnation and meander and flower and foliage designs while the primary border features floral palmettes and lilies. The selvedges are overcast and there is abbreviated cotton fringe at each end. Unmarked
