An early 20th-century lithograph print on paper. The monochromatic piece depicts a group of World War I soldiers on the battlefield gathering to pray at a makeshift church with a chaplain speaking before a large crucifix. The image is signed in plate to the lower right, appearing to read ‘L. Jorey’; however, no clear artist attribution could be made. It is matted in light brown and presented under glass in a wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to poor; toning, foxing and discoloration to print and matting; stains and accretion to mat; scuffing, scratching and edge wear to frame.
