A mixed media sculpture titled Howard by Frank Kowing (1944-2016), created in 2007. The work depicts a hand drawn bust in graphite on foam core attached to a painted wood sculpture. Signed in ink to the lower edge of the work. Presented with a wire for hanging.

Frank Kowing is an outsider artist based in Maryland with a larger than life reputation, the bulk of his focus being mixed media works, many grand in scale and with three dimensional quality. He has participated in a vast array of group shows and exhibits since his first shows in the 1970s in New York City. His education, after service in Vietnam with the US Army, was extensive and included the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, Netherlands and several fine art institutions in Pennsylvania.
