19th-Century "Ford's Theatre" Kerosene Stage Light

A rare, late 19th-century kerosene lamp stage light from Ford’s Theatre. The wall mounted light has a tin pan-shaped mounting that holds the triangle font. The font appears with a lift out insert and brass burner with clear chimney. Behind the font is a an inserted mercury glass reflector, likely original. Ford’s Theatre is located in Washington, D.C., and is most notably the assassination place of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln on April 14, 1865. The flame adjustor is patented with three dates, 1860, 1863, and 1867.

Condition

- scratches, marks and nicks present throughout; some paint loss to the mounting and to the font; age appropriate wear and use throughout.
