Hand-Knotted Persian Bijar Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Bijar wool area rug. The rug has been worked in an abrash palette which includes shades of scarlet, indigo, dark chocolate, cobalt, pink, black, buff, and ivory. The design features a stepped pendant medallion inside a lozenge field with serrated border motifs. The devices in the medallion and populating the field are stylized herati motifs. The ivory spandrels includes stylized geometric flowers and vines in the same colors. There are multiple guard borders including barber pole and hooked S motifs. The primary border has a pattern of reciprocating arches. The selvedges are overcast and there is abbreviated fringe at each end. A tag is attached to the reverse.
