Item Details

A French Provincial style maple writing desk and a Hitchcock chair. The desk comprises a built-in bookcase with two paneled doors featuring metal grates, over two aligned drawers. The table has a flip-top held on wooden pulls, including inset leather writing surface with gilded embossed border. One long machine-dovetailed drawer falls below. It stands on French flared legs set between a scalloped apron. A maple spindle back chair marked: ‘L. Hitchcock, Hitchcocksville, Conn’ features a stenciled harvest scene to the crest rail.
