An acrylic painting on paper titled Turkeys on Fence by John Lofgreen (American, b. 1955), created in 1981. The work depicts several turkeys in vivid color and detail. To the bottom left, the work is signed and dated. A metal plaque is adhered to the glass with the title and artist’s name. The work is presented in a tan and brown mat under glass with a decorative gold-toned wooden frame.
Lofgreen was born in Mesa, Arizona and is best known for his wildlife oil paintings. At a young age, he demonstrated a great connection with animals, which led him to work as a volunteer in the Santa Barbara Zoo. After this experience, Lofgreen developed a fervent interest for this subject and began an artistic career as a self-taught artist. In 1996, with the intention of achieving greater fame and recognition the artist feigned his death. Lofgreen has been an active supporter of the The Audubon Society and member of the White Mountain Conservation Society, Wildlife Conservation Society and the Alaska Bird Treatment.
