John Lofgreen Acrylic Painting on Paper "California Blue Quail"

An acrylic painting on paper titled California Blue Quail by American wildlife painter John Lofgreen (b. 1955), created in 1981. The work depicts a pair of quail in the underbrush with fine details. To the bottom right, the work is signed and dated. A metal plaque is adhered directly to the glass with the title and artist’s name. The painting is presented in a decorative blue and tan mat under glass with a gold-toned wooden frame.

John Lofgreen (American, b. 1955)
Lofgreen was born in Mesa, Arizona and is best known for his wildlife oil paintings. At a young age, he demonstrated a great connection with animals, which led him to work as a volunteer in the Santa Barbara Zoo. After this experience, Lofgreen developed a fervent interest for this subject and began an artistic career as a self-taught artist. In 1996, with the intention of achieving greater fame and recognition the artist feigned his death. Lofgreen has been an active supporter of the The Audubon Society and member of the White Mountain Conservation Society, Wildlife Conservation Society and the Alaska Bird Treatment.
