Provenance: Property from an American Midwestern Museum.

An oil painting on canvas titled Indian and Teepee by Forest by listed American artist Joseph (Jerry) Yarnell (born 1953). This painting depicts a winter landscape with a Native American man collecting firewood to keep warm for the night rendered in cool tones. It is signed to the lower right. This painting is presented without glass in a beveled wooden frame with ornate gesso moulding.

Joseph Yarnell was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is known for his landscape, genre, and western paintings. He studied at the Philbrook Art Center for a short period of time before quitting to focus on painting from his life experiences. Yarnell’s work is presented in Museums, private collections, and galleries all over the United States. He also has his own painting TV show on PBS Paint This with Jerry Yarnell.
