Surveyor's Transit

A surveyor’s transit. This surveying device features a brass telescope set in a pivoting cradle on a rotating base marked with compass directions and multiple levels. The base is marked ‘Geo. L. Kopp Co.’ and ‘6324’ beneath the north indicator. The transit is presented in a locking wooden box with a plumb bob stored on the inside of the door. The storage box is marked
‘Pittsburg Instrument & Machine Company’.

Condition

- to fair; optics blurry; leather carrying strap broken; scratches and mark to box; some tarnish.
