An oil painting on canvas titled _ Little Sister_ by listed American artist Cat Corcilius (born 1944), created in 2006. This painting depicts a young Native American woman posing is traditional regalia rendered with vibrant hues. It is signed in paint to the lower left and titled to an artist label on the verso. This painting is presented without glass in a beveled wooden frame with an inner linen border.
Cat Corcilius is known for her paintings of Native American women portraying themes of strength, the bonds of womanhood, and respect for tradition. She is a self-taught artist inspired by her many family trips to the southwest. Corcilius is a member of Oil Painters of America, The American Plains Artists, American Women Artist’s Association, The National Oil, and Acrylic Painters Society, and most of her work remains in many private collections.
