Item Details
A hand-knotted Baluch area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of umber, indigo, mocha, cranberry, and ivory. It has an indigo field, which features two large hexagonal medallions with a central hooked diamond to each center, framed within the field by a row of alternating vase and S forms, along with a stepped zigzag border with floral motifs. Framing the field are eight borders, each featuring a geometric pattern. Selvedges are quadruple overcast, the rug finishing at each end with a mesh skirt and ivory wool and goat hair warp fringe. Unlabeled.
