Item Details
A hand-knotted Bijar wool carpet runner. The rug has been worked in shades of persimmon, robin’s egg blue, indigo, sky, aqua, pink, espresso, ivory, and black. The field features three lozenge pendant medallions infilled with small hexagonal and floral motifs and surrounded by crenellated borders. The field itself is densely populated by different types of blooming flowers and geometric designs and has stepped outlines. The floral and geometric motifs in the spandrels are integrated into the crab motifs in the primary border. There are short plain woven skirts at each end. The selvedges are overcast and have been reinforced on the underside with basted on fabric. The rug is not marked.
