A set of two oil paintings on canvas . Featured is an Impressionist-inspired painting by Newton depicting a female figure in turn-of-the-century attire walking on a country path against a wooded backdrop and hazy skies. The piece is signed ‘Newton’ in white paint to the lower right. It is presented without glass in a gold tone wooden frame with moulded floral embellishments fitted with a sawtooth hanger to the verso. Also included is an oil painting on canvas by Sandler depicting a beach landscape with a lighthouse set against twilight skies and gently rippling ocean currents. The work is signed ‘Sandler’ in brown paint to the lower center. It is presented without glass in a wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to fair; small vertical abrasion near center of Sandler painting, most visible to verso; slight toning and discoloration to paintings and each canvas verso; wear, nicks and scuffing to frames; wear and discoloration to frame liner; no backing paper present to frames.
