A turned and carved pine wood takaan. A takaan is a mold used for creating taka, decorative figurines or objects made of papier mache associated with craft traditions in the Philippines. The form is covered in layers of paper and glue which, after being allowed to dry, are cut free from the form and then reassembled, painted, and embellished. This form features a carved three dimensional rounded heart on a turned stand.
