An oil painting on canvas titled Judy by listed artist and member of the Royal Society of British Artists, Ronald Benham (1915 – 1993). This work features a young nude woman lying a cot mattress with her body turned toward the viewer. The composition is rendered with subdued hues and loose brushstrokes. The painting is faintly signed to the lower left. It is presented in a gilt wood frame with a cream painted liner and a gold-tone sight edge. Present to the verso is the artist’s handwritten name, a descriptive label providing the title, and the artist’s return address label. ‘RBA – Falmouth’ is also handwritten to the frame verso, suggesting that the work was previously exhibited by the Royal Society of British Artists.

Purchased circa 1990 at the New English Arts Club exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.

- minor rubbing and paint loss along painting edges; wear to frame includes white stains to lower left; small white stains scattered throughout frame; scratches, stains, and finish loss scattered throughout frame; some adhesive residue present to lower left of frame liner.
