Königszelt Porcelain Covered Tureen with Carl Franz Krister Underplate

An August Rappsilber Königszelt porcelain covered tureen, circa 1878 – 1886. Blue underglaze Koenigzselt AR mark to underside. Of stepped ribbed form having a vibrant hand-painted polychrome floral and butterfly decoration with lavish gilt embellishments and bois details. Lot includes an underplate, and although painted in the same pattern, careful examination shows a faint outline of the previous design, which was removed and then redecorated to compliment the tureen. The underplate is stamped with a vertical bar and mark of Krister Porzellan Manufaktur (Carl Franz Krister) to underside, circa 1840-1895.
