Early 20th Century Jacobean Style Oak Armchair with Caned Panels
Item Details
An early 20th century Jacobean style oak armchair with caned panels. The frame features a straight, molded crest with ornately-carved, foliate motifs set against a stippled ground. The padded back is covered in burgundy vinyl with brass tacks along the edges over a removable, seat cushion in matching upholstery. Flanking the back are block-and-turned stiles with leaf-carved accents continuing to scrolled arms supported by caned, side panels. The chair rises on block-and-turned legs joined by matching stretchers with a foliate-carved, front seat rail. There are no maker’s marks.

- to fair; some minor surface wear as would be expected; missing upper seat board/covering and lower board is partially detached (needs to be re-nailed); frame refinished at some point; upholstery is later.
