Vintage Tilt-Top Oak Drafting Table

Item Details

A vintage tilt-top drafting table. The oak frame features a rectangular, soft-wood top, with metal overlays along the short sides, which tilts on a four-legged base. The base is fitted with a single, frieze drawer and the legs are joined by stretchers supporting a later, plywood shelf. The verso of the apron is inscribed ‘31137’ and the underside of the top is marked ‘S.I.U. 031137’, otherwise there are no maker’s marks.

Condition

- scattered scratches, nicks, and marks, mostly to top; some oxidation/rust to metal edge overlays; top sticks when initially opening and it does not lock into place when tilted; later plywood shelf with stains and one chipped corner.
