An early 20th century Jacobean style oak writing table by Henshaw’s of Cincinnati. The quartersawn table features a rectangular top with molded edges above an ornately-carved apron with an all-over, scrolling-leaf design set against a stippled ground. The front of the case is fitted with a machine-dovetailed, frieze drawer flanked on each side by two stacked, short drawers with carved, cup handles. Likewise, the back of the table has five false drawers fronts in the same configuration. The table rises on block-and-turned legs with foliate accents joined by matching stretchers and ending in carved, bun feet. The underside retains a partial, red paper label marked ‘Furniture & Mattress / Makers / Wholesale & Retail / Henshaw’s / 1017 to 1027 Elm St. / Cincinnati, Ohio.’
