Item Details
A vintage Chippendale-style secretary bookcase of birch, stained mahogany. The upper bookcase section features two glass doors with geometric fretwork panels and two adjustable shelves. Above is an arching “swan-neck” pediment with a centered flame carved finial. The mid section has a solid desk lid, which folds down and is supported by lopers that engage when lid is opened. Interior compartments and small drawers flank a fan carved prospect door. Below are four drawers with an oxbow-shape and the original batwing-style, brass plated pulls. The case rests on four bandy legs with claw and ball feet. A branded stamp is located on the top drawer “Monitor Furniture Company, Jamestown, NY”, Circa 1940’s.
