Item Details
An original, nineteenth-century oil painting portrait on canvas by an anonymous artist. The unsigned portrait depicts an elderly brown-eyed woman wearing a lace cap and collar over a black dress. She gazes sternly at the viewer, as she plies her knitting needles. The painting is presented in an ornate antique gilded wood frame with a hanging wire on the back.
Condition
- frame is in poor condition including scuffs, missing pieces of plaster and gilt; separated corners
- painting surface has extensive crackelure throughout
- note on the verso is marked “Varnished with Soluvar 1988”
