Russian Lacquer Boxes Featuring Palekhy
Item Details
A collection of Russian lacquered boxes featuring palekhy boxes. Each box depicts a scene from Russian folktales and signed in Cyrillic. The boxes have hinged lids and are lacquered in black to the outsides, with intricately hand-painted scenes of people and animals, and the interiors are lacquered in deep orange-red. Also featured is a rectangular box with tole style painted lid and gold filigree details to the sides and a small box with a painted image of a Russian town.
